Manipur Silence Breaks Disclosing Rapes, Murders, Brutality & Politics

Protesters hold placards during a demonstration over sexual violence against women in Manipur, in Guwahati on Thursday.

A living example of how cruel a human can be has come from the Manipur, which is burning for the last 3 months. what is happening in our North Eastern state, the rest of Indian states are not even aware about it. on July 19 a video comes out from Manipur and within no time it reaches more than half of the Indians. Such a video which not only embarrassed humanity but also exposed the reality of India's hollow politics, governments, society, media etc. In the viral video of 2 women who have been surrounded by the crowd of men and are paraded naked, during which men come one after another and misbehave with different body parts of those women. Whichever part of the world this video could reach, it made everyone think twice and seems like shocking. As soon as the video went viral it was investigated and it was found that the video is of May 3, but due to internet ban in Manipur it took so long to come out.

It was later discussed in the country after which various reactions came and many questions were raised. Giving reaction is everyone's personal matter, but when there is to choose between humanity and brutality, can't the human reaction match? The truth is that whenever India's majority society saw this video, they did not see it from the angle of humanity, they did not consider women as human beings. India's opposition parties gave a lot of highlights to this news, demanded justice, asked questions to the government, which obviously had to be asked. when it came to the reaction of the ruling party, they wanted to change the direction of the incident this is also not wrong, governments often do this. But we want to question the media which is considered to be the voice of the country and independent, for some time the media raised this incident but as soon as July 20 came the media again started defending the central government stating that such type of incidents are also happening in Rajasthan & Bengal (Opposition Ruling States). The major society who follows and have trust on this media has forgotten that it is not about politics, parties, opposition, but about humanity and women.

It also led to Prime Minister Narendra Modi making his first public comments about the situation in the state. “This incident of Manipur which has come to light, for any civilized society, it’s a shameful incident,” he said on Thursday. It was an “insult” that “is of the entire nation” He added. Don’t know whether it was his concern or compulsion.

He did not directly address the overall violence in Manipur, or offer any solutions to ease tensions.

After this horrifying news some more facts are gradually coming out, which would not have been able to reach the majority society of India and may not even reach for many years to come. We get a photo from some sources in which a man has been hanged with his throat cut. Also a woman's statement comes in which she says that nearly 200 women were raped during these riots. After a few hours, a video is received in which only dead bodies are visible on the roads of Manipur. For 70+ days a state of that country is burning continuously which addresses itself as a Vishwaguru. The country which is represented as mother i.e. Bharat Mata and where goddesses are worshipped, the women of that state are stripped naked and raped. We don't expect much from the Modi government, that's why we will not ask more questions to them, our only request to the government is to take necessary action on Manipur as soon as possible and if possible.

The motions seek an European Parliament resolution on the theme “India, the situation in Manipur”. Later India asserted that the issue is an internal matter.

When Manipur gets burnt and cools down figures will be shown in government files, government figures are always shown less than reality. It is possible that if ever a government of another party is formed and the ideology changes in the country, then a movie like Manipur Files or Ajmer 23 will be made, but it will be a matter of time how that generation will react to it.

What To Worry About?

In this whole horrfying scene, the people and society have become the cause of concern for the nation due to which there are some questions.

  • After the video that has come from Manipur, why doesn't the blood of the country's youth especially women, boil so much that Delhi should be surrounded again like in 2012?

  • Those people of the country who supported the old incidents of Kashmir, Kerala, etc. a lot by watching the movies but the incident which is happening in front of their eyes, is afraid to even mention it.

  • Will the society of this country now look at caste and religion before calling crime a crime?

  • Will the society of the country not call crime a crime only because perhaps the government of that state is of their favorite leader?
